All Bengal Yoga Doctor’s Association (ABYDA), Unit of MDDT | Established: 2005

PREAMBLE

In recognition of yoga as an ancient, universal science for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, and to preserve, promote, and present its diverse history and practices, this act provides the legal and institutional framework for the establishment and governance of Yoga Museums under the All Bengal Yoga Doctor’s Association.

DEFINITIONS

Museum: A public or private institution established under this act to collect, preserve, interpret, and display yoga-related heritage.

Association: Refers to ABYDA, a registered body under MDDT, responsible for implementing and managing all museum units and yoga doctor activities.

Trust: The parent trust or body (MDDT) under which ABYDA operates.

OBJECTIVES

  • To preserve historical, philosophical, and cultural elements of yoga.
  • To document tribal, classical, and contemporary yoga practices.
  • To promote educational awareness, training, and certification.
  • To protect and represent diverse yogic identities across regions and communities.

All Bengal Yoga Doctor’s Association (ABYDA)

Purpose

To unify and regulate qualified yoga practitioners and doctors in Bengal, and oversee the functioning of all associated museums and yoga research activities.

Key Rules:
  • Maintain a professional registry of Yoga Doctors.
  • Conduct examinations, issue licenses and provide Continuing Yoga Education (CYE).
  • Partner with hospitals, schools, and government programs to promote therapeutic yoga.
  • Shall operate all museums and their development arms.
  • Regularly publish journals, books, and reports.

World Yoga Museum (WYM)

Purpose

To serve as an international archive and exhibition center of global yoga traditions, pioneers, texts, and therapeutic models.

Key Rules:
  • Must represent yoga practices from at least 20 countries.
  • Shall collaborate with global yoga federations and institutions.
  • Must organize international conferences, exhibitions, and research programs.
  • Shall maintain a multilingual documentation center.

Indian Yoga Museum (IYM)

Purpose

To showcase India’s yogic roots, classical lineages, spiritual philosophies, and their impact on global wellness.

Key Rules:
  • Must include historical exhibits from Vedic, Buddhist, Jain, and modern traditions.
  • Shall host annual “Indian Yogic Heritage Week.”
  • Will coordinate with AYUSH, Ministry of Culture, and other Indian institutions.
  • Shall include archives on Indian yoga masters and scriptures.

State Yoga Museum (SYM)

Purpose

To document and present regional contributions to yoga across Indian states.

Key Rules:
  • Each museum shall represent its respective state’s yoga styles, saints, and therapies.
  • Shall conduct local research and archive dialect-based yogic literature.
  • Shall promote youth engagement through local yoga contests and exhibitions.

Yoga Museum (YM)

Purpose

To serve as a general, all-encompassing yoga heritage center open to the public.

Key Rules:
  • Focus on universal yoga principles.
  • Include interactive exhibits, yoga therapy rooms, digital libraries.
  • Host public yoga classes and lectures regularly.
  • Maintain open access for students, researchers, and tourists.

Tribal Yoga-Naturopathy & Meditation (TYNM)

Purpose

To preserve and promote indigenous and tribal yoga knowledge systems.

Key Rules:
  • Must conduct fieldwork and oral history collection from tribal communities.
  • Shall protect IP (Intellectual Property) rights of tribal healers and practitioners.
  • Must include bilingual (tribal + regional language) documentation.
  • Annual Tribal Yoga Festival to be organized.

AMENDMENTS & LEGAL COMPLIANCE

This act can be amended by the Executive Committee of ABYDA with approval from the parent trust (MDDT). All entities must comply with local/state laws and heritage protection guidelines.
